Free offers for newcomers

As a newcomer in Kolding municipality, we want to give you an opportunity to experience the many cultural and leisure activites in the municipality. In our welcome brochure we offer you free tickets to an assortment of activities such as museums, cinemas and sports events.

You can pickup the welcome brochure at the City Hall in Kolding, the municipal Citizen Service or at the libraries in Kolding, Vamdrup, Christiansfeld and Lunderskov . You must bring the welcome letter that you received either digitally in your E-boks or physically by post.

Free public transportation for newcomers

As a newcomer, you can get a Rejsekort and travel for free on public transport with Sydtrafik for two months. This gives you plenty of opportunity to see your new municipality and the experiences and sights it has to offer. The Rejsekort is an electronic ticketing card that can be used across the different public transport operators. The free Rejsekort for newcomers is valid throughout Sydtrafik's operational area, which stretches from the Danish/German border in the south to Varde, Billund and Vejle in the north. The card is valid for travel on all Sydtrafik buses and Arriva trains in the municipalities of Tønder, Esbjerg and Varde. The card can be used by all members of the household, but only gives free travel to a single adult, who additionally can bring two children under the age of 12 for free. Please note that the card must be activated within two months of moving to Kolding municipality. Welcome event for newcomers

Are you new in Kolding? Then you have the opportunity to get to know your new municipality better at a welcome event for newcomers. The next welcome event in English will take place on thursday september 26th 2024 from 16.30 to 18.30. at UC-SYD in Kolding. Here you will be introduced to some of the cultural and leisure activities that Kolding has to offer and get a chance to meet other newcomers in Kolding. Spring walks for newcomers

During the spring of 2024 Kolding Municipality invites all newcomers to join a series of spring walks in the nature that surrounds the city of Kolding. The walks are a great opportunity to experience the city's beautiful nature, meet other newcomers, and learn about the many hiking groups that Kolding has to offer. The newcomer guide and staff from "Fritid og Idræt" (The municipal Leisure and Sports department) will lead you through some great trails in the area. Be a part in the international community in Kolding

The Expats Association of Kolding is a volunteer organisation that focuses on getting expats to feel welcome in Kolding. TEAK works for promoting integration and create a network in the Danish society. They also provides a platform to all expats to share their knowledge, experience, skills and cultures.

Amongst other things TEAK can help you with:

● Finding a social network of expats
● Getting guidance on the day-to-day challenges faced by new-comers
● Participating in events to promote integration among expats
● Counselling and support in finding a job

All expats are welcome to join TEAK. It doesn't matter if you moved to Kolding to study or to work, or whether you are new in Kolding or have lived here for several years.
